When is the Grass Greener
A desert phenology lesson
45-minute Lesson
Target Audience: 6th-8th Grade Students
Phenology is the study of the timing of natural patterns and life cycles. In this standalone lesson, students explore desert phenology data and play a game to model how desert grasses and shrubs obtain water. They apply that knowledge of resource availability and weather and climate to understand how climate change is impacting when these plants grow throughout the year and the domino effects changes in phenology have in desert ecosystems.
